Uncle Jeff's List: A Rhyming Story About Powerful People and the Consequences They Never Face

Uncle Jeff keeps a clipboard. On it is a list. Next to certain names are neat little checkmarks, and every single face on the dock is a black silhouette, because naming names is how you end up redacted by the FBI. That's not me being coy. That's the book. Every guest is a shadow, every detail is blacked out, and the whole thing rhymes like a bedtime story for people who already know how this ends.

This is satire aimed squarely at the very rich and very connected, the ones who fly first class through scandal and land somewhere warm with no charges. Presidents who can't recall. A genius in a rolling chair. A friend of royal blood whose calendar got muddy. It's parody, it's pointed, and it names absolutely no one, which is the joke, because you'll fill in the silhouettes yourself and then feel weird about it.

Nobody in this book faces anything. That's the point.

Who I Wrote This For

  • People who follow a scandal and slowly realise nothing will happen
  • Fans of satire that punches up at the untouchable, not down
  • Anyone who enjoys a redacted-document bit done for laughs
  • Readers who like their humour cynical and their rhymes darker

Who I Did Not Write This For

  • People who need every joke to name a name and start a lawsuit
  • Anyone who has filed a formal complaint about "going too far"
  • The relative who thinks satire about the powerful is disrespectful to the powerful
  • Readers who want the bad guys to get caught. They don't. That's the whole ending.

When This Book Comes in Handy

  • A gag gift for the friend who won't stop talking about "the list"
  • White elephant exchanges where you'd like to start a conversation, or an argument
  • Coffee-table placement designed to make a guest pick it up and go quiet
  • A present for the cynic who assumes the worst and is usually right

Why I Think You Should Buy It

This is the book that gets picked up, read aloud, and then handed across the room while someone says "wait, is this about who I think it's about?" A greeting card has never once made a whole room lower their voices and lean in.

Maybe you already know exactly which silhouette you'd point at. You've been squinting at the shadows since the second panel. So stop pretending you're deciding and put it in the cart, because the names may be blacked out, but the punchline is perfectly legible, and nobody's doing anything about it anyway.
